Dr Natasha Katunga
Researcher
Natasha Katunga (PhD) is a researcher at the Western Cape CoLab for e-Inclusion and Social Innovation based at the University of the Western Cape. Her research interests are in the information and communication technology for development (ICT4D) and social media for development spaces, particularly societal inclusion and digital social innovation.
Natasha started her journey at the CoLab in 2015 as an intern registered for a joint PhD degree at UWC (Information Systems) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Communication and Media Studies). Since completing her PhD, she has divided her time between research and project work focusing on digital inclusion, digital transformation and impact assessment of digital inclusion interventions.
She has always been passionate about technology, particularly how it can be used for citizen empowerment and to support sustainable community development. She finds it very rewarding to witness and experience the meaningful outcomes and impact of research and interventions in the lives of community members through the CoLab.
